a performance art duo exploring t4t tenderness

Performed at James Gentile’s album release party + That Show @ Index Space

In high school I was captain of my drill team. So I wore like a sequined, white uniform with boots and a cowboy hat and I danced on the football field at halftime.

I always say I went to art school in the middle of Michigan because I assume people won’t know Interlochen. I went to Interlochen. I studied composition and guitar and basically had sex for the first time.

I actually had to use glue on my eyelids to apply green glitter—green on the lid and silver under the brow. Fake eyelashes on top of that. A leather belt. Leather arm cuffs. Hair slicked back into a side bun. Conservative drag.

It was so crazy it was such a meme. Everyone who has heard of it makes fun of it and everyone who went makes fun of it but—It was also one of the most special experiences in the world. Not because of what the institution did but because of what it meant to be part of a weird queer arts community at the age of like 16.

And I would tell you I hated it but I didn’t. I actually really loved it.
